National Poetry Day 2003:

National Poetry Day 2003 was the tenth anniversary of the celebration, and the theme was the nation itself, Britain.

Poetry Landmarks of Britain

The Poetry Landmarks project was created in 2003 to provide a map to the whole country's poetry scene.  It is still a popular section of the Poetry Society website - why not visit, to find out what's near you, or add something that isn't there yet?

Poet in Residence: Roger McGough

For the first time, the Poetry Society had a National Poetry Day Poet in Residence:

Roger McGough, with teacup

Roger McGough!

Roger kept an online diary during his time at the society, and created - with the help of poetry fans across the UK - the Patchwork Poem, a cento woven together of lines submitted by the public.
