1-1 Poetry Surgery with Judy Brown, Derby

Judy Brown
This is a wonderful opportunity to discuss your poetry on a one-to-one basis with poet and tutor Judy Brown. Poetry Surgery offers a relaxed but in-depth analysis of your poems. You may identify strategies for further developing your writing, discuss problems you may be experiencing and look at strategies for taking your work forward. There will be plenty time to talk about all those things you need to know about writing, revising and submitting your work. There are two slots: 10.15 and 11.45am. Each session lasts one hour.

Price: £45 for Poetry Society members, £55 for non members. Book online below or contact Paul McGrane 020 7420 9881. You will immediately be allocated a timeslot that suits you.

Once your session is booked, you will be asked to send up to 6 poems, or 150 lines maximum, in advance, so that Judy has sufficient time to read your poems beforehand. We'll also ask you to provide a brief note about your goals for your writing and what specifically you hope to gain from the Surgery.

Feedback from Judy's previous sessions:

"This was a very useful session. Judy was very encouraging about the poems but also gave some good editing advice. I thought it was a great service to offer as, for new writers, it can be very difficult to know where to get an independent opinion on your work." Trish Kerrison, Derbyshire

"I would like to thank the Poetry Society and Judy Brown for an excellent poetry surgery in Derby. It was stimulating and very reassuring, and Judy was most generous with her time. In addition to acquiring many helpful tips for my own work, I enjoyed meeting a poet whose work I had read and liked. It was a most encouraging experience, and one I would recommend to others." Gillian Radcliffe, Derbyshire
