Adlestrop Trainspotter Club Badge Extract from Edward Thomas's Collected Poems (Faber & Faber)

Celebrating the centenary of 'Adlestrop'

100 years ago, in June 1914, Edward Thomas's train pulled 'unwontedly' at the railway station at Adlestrop. We asked Poetry Society members and our followers on social media to send in their poems inspired by the poem, films/soundtracks of themselves reciting the poem, or to simply send us their thoughts and memories.

On this page, you can view a commemorative film made by Poetry Society member Patrick Daley (and featuring PS members Michael Shann, Kavita Jindal, Peter Daniels, Margaret Haig, Neil Reeder, Bernard Battley, Marilyn Daish, Emer Gillespie, Adam Newey, Sofia Buchuck, Lance Pierson, and Anna Robinson); and the words of the poem set to music by LiTTLe MACHiNe. You can also listen to Katrina Naomi and Lance Pierson reading the poem, plus tribute poems from Kim Rooney and Marc Woodward.

On other pages, you can also read poems that commemorate the centenary of the birth of Thomas's poem, as well as tributes and thoughts.
