One of the oldest poetry societies in the country, we have been in continual existence since1953 and some original members are still active, alongside members of all ages. As well as a programme of events throughout the year, including the Crabbe Memorial Poetry Competition, the Hardiman Scott Cup for schools, the Festival of Suffolk Poetry and a contribution to the Aldeburgh Poetry Festival, we have a number of poetry cafes across the county, publish Twelve Rivers poetry newsletter several times a year and run a Portfolio Group giving analysis and criticism by correspondence. PoetryAnglia exists in a number of forms being a community cum network of poets and those interested in the art. We run run two very successful monthly poetry cafes: one in Woodbridge, started in May 2007; the other in Ipswich, beginning in January 2011. Now and again, workshops and readings by poets are organised under the PoetryAnglia flag and, each month, there are two poetry workshops, one in Ipswich, and one in various venues in Suffolk.
