Poetry News is the Poetry Society's quarterly newspaper, packed with features, interviews and ideas

Regular features include: 'Poets in their Place', exploring the significance of place in poets' work; 'Close-up', on the nuts and bolts of poetic craft; 'Poetry Hero', in which poets write about the writers who have inspired them; 'Publisher profiles', looking at book publishing, and 'On the racks', looking at magazines. Poetry News also includes interviews with leading poets and rising stars; articles on the latest films, collections and competitions; and news from every part of the poetry world. Plus there are of course details of current activities at the Poetry Society.

Each quarter, members are invited to send in poems on a particular theme set by a professional poet and judge. Six of the best are included on a regularly updated, dedicated members' page. Each year the Hamish Canham Poetry Prize awards £300 to the best members' poem to appear in its pages. For details of the upcoming members' poem competition and how to enter, click here.

Poetry News is published in March, June, September and December.

A selection of articles and a contents list for each issue from 2001 onwards is available on this site (see menu bar to the left).

What members say

"I sat down with a coffee to look at Poetry News this morning. Three hours later I have read every word, emailed a friend about an article, posted on Facebook about another, reread some Kipling and been delighted to find MacNeice quoted on the back page. I also found a cold mug of coffee beside me!"
Jacky Tarleton, Exeter
